The GREEN Tomato
The Couch Tomato Café is becoming GREEN , by:
-Paying a premium for wind energy
-Offering customers a personalized salad container re-use (recycling) program to minimize waste
-Voluntarily recycling 15 cubic yards of cardboard waste per month
-Use recycled disposable utencils
-Voluntarily recycling over fifty 45-gallon trash barrels of metal cans and plastic bottles per month
-Using all forced air hand drying in bathrooms (reducing paper waste)
-Voluntarily recycling ten 45-gallon trash barrels of paper per month
-Using three super-high efficiency energy star heating and ventilation systems
-Transitioned away from wax plates
The GIVING Tomato
The Couch Tomato Café is giving back to the community, by:
-Donating well over $10,000 in cash, auction items and food trays per year in support of a large variety of local charities and non-profit organizations
-Funding $1,050 per year for the Arnold Mosmen College Scholarship Fund, to be awarded to a selected student who has proven their hard-work and dedication to their education and has displayed a strong leadership role as an athlete.
-Participating in the Manayunk Development Corporation, who aim to keep the area’s streets clean (among many other important community services)
